Who We Are

Bringing the Viking Age to Life in East Anglia

Welcome to Óðinns Raven Guard, a passionate living history group dedicated to preserving the past by experiencing it firsthand. Our journey began when I undertook a charity walk from Ipswich to York back in 2024, re-igniting a love for the historical exploration and camaraderie. We believe that history is best understood through immersive experiences and shared adventures. Join us as we delve into the stories of our ancestors, all while having fun and fostering a community of history enthusiasts.

Our Story

Óðinns Raven Guard was founded by a small band of friends brought together by a shared fascination with the Viking Age, Norse culture, and living history and a good fellowship.

What began as a handful of enthusiasts gathering to learn traditional skills, study historical sources, and honour the ways of our ancestors soon grew into something much greater.

In the early days, we focused on building our knowledge, improving our craft, and creating an environment where anyone with a passion for history could feel welcome. Through countless hours of research, training, camp life, and public events, the bonds of friendship and fellowship grew stronger with every season.

As our reputation grew, so did our ranks.

New members joined our shield wall, each bringing their own skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Together we have built a group dedicated not only to historical authenticity but also to education, community, and keeping the stories of the Viking Age alive for modern audiences.

Today, Óðinns Raven Guard stands as a proud and welcoming reenactment group. We bring history to life through combat displays, living history camps, craft demonstrations, storytelling, and public engagement. Whether standing on the battlefield, around the campfire, or teaching visitors about daily life in the Norse world, we strive to honour the past while creating lasting memories for the future.

The raven was said to be a symbol of wisdom, knowledge, and guidance. These values remain at the heart of our group. We continue to grow, learn, and share our passion with all who cross our path.

Our story is still being written, and every member who joins us becomes part of the saga.
